Out-of-hours service

Friday, November 16 2007

Currently our dedicated team of Small Animal Vets and nurses provide Out of Hours Service as well as working their day shift either side of the nights on call.

With our ever expanding clientele we no longer feel it possible for our team to be able to maintain the high quality of day time service you expect from Putlands Veterinary Surgery, if they also have to work at night. We do not have enough night calls to justify the employment of any dedicated night staff, otherwise we would do so.

The vast majority of rural Veterinary practices are in the same position as us. Therefore in recent years the trend has been towards practices such as Putlands to join dedicated Out of Hours Veterinary Services.

For these reasons we are proposing to join the emergency clinic provided by PETS who are based at the Newnham Court Shopping Village close to junction 7 of the M20 at Maidstone .

PETS have an excellent reputation and we feel very confident that when you should need them, they will provide you with a first class service. Their night team work only as emergency vets and have huge experience in the relevant field.

We are certain that by entrusting the Out of Hours calls to PETS we will improve the standard of your pet's emergency cover and also improve the quality of the service we can provide to you during normal daytime clinics.

Our nursing staff will continue to cover for hospitalized pets and to answer the emergency line. Our veterinary staff will still be available on Saturday and Sunday mornings should you need to speak to them.

We are expecting to make these changes from September 1 st , initially on a trial bases. We will be monitoring the success of this new venture and will take steps to ensure that it runs as smoothly as possible.
